Blackboard Inactive Students - Performance Dashboard |
Blackboard's Performance Dashboard provides the instructor with a quick way to view students that have never logged into the course. It can also be used monitor the student's last access to the course.
To access the Performance Dashboard:
- Start by turning Edit Mode - On in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Enter the course.
- On the left side, find Control Panel. Open the Evaluation section and select Performance Dashboard.

Instructors should check the Last Course Access column and the Days Since Last Access column. Both of these columns will display 'Never' if the student has not yet accessed the course.
Note that the instructor must enter each course where the information is needed.
Alternately
Instructors can use the Early Warning System and set up a rule that tell them when a student has not accessed the course over a period of time.
The first step is to set up a rule in the Early Warning system:
- Enter a course.
- Navigate to the “Early Warning System” screen: Control Panel >> Evaluation >> Early Warning System
- Click on “Create Rule” and from the drop down menu select “Last Access Rule”. The “Add Early Warning System Rule” screen will appear.
- Enter a name for the rule, e.g. “Missing Students”
- Enter the number of days for the “Days Since Last Course Access”. This value might be the number of days into the term (to look for students who have never entered) or it might be for a period of time, e.g. 21 days to look for students that have not been active.
- Click “Submit”. The “Early Warning System” screen will appear. In the “Number of Warnings” column you will find the statistic of how many students have not logged in during that period of time.
