Adult Basic Education (ABE)


 

DuPage County residents who do not have a U.S. high school diploma can take the GED Test.

Applicants must live in DuPage County for 30 days before registering for the GED Test and be at least 19 years of age to register. Individuals who are under the age of 19 must provide supporting documentation as follows:

Age 18 or older (high school class HAS graduated)
An official letter from your high school with:
• Your name
• Social Security number
• Official withdrawal date
• Verification of your membership in the graduated class
• Class graduation date

Age 17 to 18 (high school class HAS NOT graduated)
You must be withdrawn from high school for one year AND have been 17 when withdrawn from school.
An official letter from your High School with:
• Name
• Social Security number
• Official withdrawal date

Age 17 to 18 (Parent who is unable to attend school)
A copy of your child’s birth certificate or doctor’s confirmation of pregnancy must be presented at the time of registration.

Age 16 or older (Court-ordered to take the GED Test)
An official letter from your attorney and a copy of the court order must be presented at the time of registration.
