The Student Outcomes Assessment Committee and Innovation Incubator are continuing to support assessment and best practices in multi-section courses through the Pilot Multi-section Assessment Projects. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

 

Pilot Multi-section Assessment Projects

 

 

 

The College of DuPage invites you to consider applying for a pilot Multi-section Assessment Project. You will be responsible for supporting discipline assessments of multiple sections of a single course or a course sequence. You will be expected to participate in both phases of the project. The second phase will begin the quarter after the assessment data has been gathered.

 

The responsibilities of the faculty member during the planning phase are:

·    Research the relevant literature on multi-section assessment and best practices within the faculty member’s discipline

·    Develop 2 or 3 options of appropriate assessments to present to the entire faculty in the discipline

·    Serve as liaison to determine which assessments faculty would like to use and any modifications they deem useful

·    Serve as liaison to implement the assessment and collect the data as it is gathered

Overload compensation prior to gathering assessment data: (up to 3 hours overload)

 

 

The responsibilities of the faculty member during the feedback phase are:

·    Summarize/evaluate the data from the assessment in a manner meaningful to the faculty in the discipline assessed

·    Present the summary to the discipline and facilitate discussion on how to make use of this data to improve instruction within the discipline through specific action plans

·    Write a report to SOAC describing the results

Overload compensation following collection of assessment data: (up to 2 hours overload)

 

The responsibilities of the Student Outcomes Assessment Committee are:

·    Publish the results on the web-site

·    Distribute analyses to academic administrators for use in planning

·    Support faculty assessment projects

The SOA Committee will review the applications for overload compensation with the appropriate dean/associate dean. Administrators will give the final approval for overload assignments. 

 

Innovation Incubator is funding this pilot program. The overload compensation will be budgeted through Innovation Incubator as part of its role in promoting student learning and supporting institutional initiatives.
