Exams

Exam Format:

Two exams constitute 45% of your course grade (22.5% each).

Each exam consists of 75 multiple-choice questions. Each exam is worth 225 points. Each multiple-choice question is worth 3 points. The exams are administered in the Assessment and Testing Lab in IC 100 of the Instructional Center at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. If you do not live in the Chicago area, then you must contact the instructor by e-mail to arrange a local proctor for the exams.

Refer to the Assessment and Testing page for the lab hours.

You are permitted to retake either of your two exams once. If you choose to retake either of your exams, be sure to present the "B" permit for that exam (see Exam Permits below) when checking in at the testing location. The higher of the two scores will be recorded.

Exam content:

The following table illustrates the components of the course which are covered on each exam.

Exam Preparation:

To effectively prepare for exams, you should do the following.
  1. Review each textbook assignment. This includes a review of the vocabulary, chapter review sections, and homework assignments.
  2. Review your laboratory assignments. Do NOT attempt an exam if you have not completed the laboratory assignments covered on that exam.
  3. Review any notes you took as you navigated the web pages during completion of a textbook assignment or field trip.
  4. Master the learning objectives listed in the beginning of each textbook assignment. Because they are learning objectives, you are expected to understand the information summarized in each. Therefore, to evaluate whether you have mastered the course material, all of the questions in the exams are linked to the learning objectives. Be able to meet the learning objectives and you will be virtually guaranteed success.
