The Kevin Locke Native Dance Ensemble
The Drum is the Thunder, The Flute is the Wind
Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, 7 p.m.

Kevin Locke is the pre-eminent player of the indigenous Northern Plains flute as well as storyteller, inspiring hoop dancer and cultural ambassador. His ensemble of dancers and musicians from many nations strive to raise awareness of “the oneness we all share as human beings.” The evening’s performance is a dramatic reconstruction of traditional Indian dances and music from the Lakota, Ojibwe, Oneida and Comanche nations representing the return of the thunders that revitalize the spirit within the people. The drum is the thunder. The rattle is the rain. The voice is the lightning. The flute is the wind.
