Maestro Muspratt begins your instruction in the 3R’s with Silvestre
Revueltas’ riveting Afro-Cuban Sensemaya,
inspired by Nicolas Guillen’s poem Chant
to Kill a Snake. You will catch the same pulsating musical fever
as you did two years ago from Kirk’s rendition of Aguila’s
Conga. Maurice Ravel’s masterpiece,
La Valse, will be performed twice. First
a performance for solo piano by Meng-Chieh Liu, then the orchestra will
offer their version. Meng-Chieh Liu returns to our stage to perform
the intricate Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano
Concerto completing the triumvirate.
