What is a Cooperative Agreement?
• C.O.D. students apply for specific applied science degrees
and certificate programs not available at C.O.D.
• C.O.D. has contractual agreements with other community colleges for specific programs at specific colleges.
• Check the list of Cooperative Agreements for which College of DuPage students are approved to attend.
What is a Chargeback?
• Chargebacks are given to students to attend another
community college for an AAS/Certificate program not offered
at their own community college, provided that the desired program
is not offered through a cooperative agreement.

Important Steps to Obtain Chargeback or
Cooperative Agreement Approval:
• Contact the Admissions office of your local community
college.
• Confirm that your community college does not offer an A.A.S. degree or certificate in the subject area you wish to study.
• You may also submit an electronic Cooperative Agreement/Chargeback Request Form via-e-mail.
• Present your approval letter of authorization form to the Registration office at the attending school.
If approved, you will pay the in-district tuition and fees charged by the community college you will attend.
Qualifications for Chargeback:
• Does not apply to individual courses.
• Plan to enroll in complete A.A.S. degree or certificate programs that are recognized by the ICCB to be eligible.
• Approval given for one academic year – reapply when expires – some colleges prefer a semester-by-semester application process.
• Choosing classes is to be followed strictly for your particular program of study. If you enroll in courses not in your program of study you will be charged out-of-district tuition.
• If you need to substitute a non-required course, contact your home school for approval before registering for the class.
• Courses which are below the 100 level or repeated are
not covered.
Prerequisites for courses are not covered and must be done at
your home school.
• If you change your program or course of study you must obtain approval. If this procedure is not followed you may be responsible for out-of–district tuition.
Community colleges often have comparable programs. Chargebacks are granted at the discretion of your community college and will not be granted for a comparable program.
