2003 CONTEST WINNER

Where: Patacancha, Peru
When: July 28, 2003
Brief description: In the high Andean village (13,000 ft), indigenous children were gathered to greet us, visitors from the US, and to receive gifts we brought.
What this image means to me: Unwashed faces, sun burnt cheeks, dirt covered feet – all these do not seem to dim the spirits of these children. I hope they have brighter futures.
