Aurora
University, C.O.D. Sign Agreement
By Allan Benson
Aurora University
Aurora University and College of DuPage have signed an articulation
agreement designed to improve educational services to Human Services
students served by both institutions.
The agreement provides a seamless opportunity for C.O.D. students to
complete an AU bachelor's degree in Human Services, and to have prior
academic coursework fully recognized and transferable toward the completion
of that degree.
The pact was signed at a meeting in AU's University Banquet Hall.
Representing C.O.D. were Dr. Sunil Chand, president; Christopher Picard,
Ph.D., vice president, Academic Affairs; Bernard Fradkin, Ph.D., acting
vice president and dean of Health, Social and Behavioral Sciences;
Adair Bullen, associate dean, Health, Social and Behavioral Sciences;
Rita Bobrowski, Ph.D., coordinator, Human Services; Marianne Kreiglstein,
assistant professor, Human Services; and Frank Salvatini, associate
professor, Human Services.
Representing AU were Rebecca L. Sherrick, president; Andrew P. Manion,
provost; Kenneth I. Millar, dean, George Williams College of Health
and Human Services; Rita M. Yerkes, dean, School of Human Services;
and Dovetta McKee, director, Human Services Program.
Addressing
the Aurora University officials, Chand said, "Thank
you in gratitude for all of the work you've done. You are very important
to our students. In the past, there has not always been an opportunity
for our students to go on to get their baccalaureate degrees in this
area."
Sherrick said, "Aurora University welcomes the opportunity to
partner with College of DuPage for this important initiative. Through
this agreement, College of DuPage students will be able to continue
their education in human services, ultimately giving back to the
communities and organizations they serve through increased knowledge
and enhanced
skills."
The agreement is designed to serve C.O.D. students who transfer to
AU with an associate's degree in addictions counseling, applied gerontology,
corrections or human services generalist.
Founded in 1893, Aurora University enrolls more than 4,000 students
in the College of Arts, Sciences and Business; College of Education;
and George Williams College of Health and Human Services. Call (630)
