CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Massage therapists use a variety of soft tissue manipulation techniques to relax muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, reduce stress, and enhance mobility. Massage therapy is being integrated into the mainstream of medical practice and health maintenance as a complementary modality.

Massage therapists receive referrals from health care providers and/or are employed directly by chiropractic, osteopathic and orthopedic physicians; sports medicine clinics; and physical therapists. They also work in hospitals, nursing homes and spas, and are self-employed. The employment opportunities for students entering this field are excellent.

The Massage Therapy program is offered through a contractual relationship between College of DuPage and the Wellness and Massage Training Institute (WMTI) in Woodridge, IL. All massage courses (44 credits) are offered on the WMTI campus in Woodridge only. Successful completion of the program earns students both a diploma from WMTI and an academic certificate from C.O.D. Students can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in therapeutic massage by completing additional general education coursework.
