The Fire Science Technology program at College of DuPage has a wide
variety of classes addressing today's rapidly expanding and constantly
progressing fire service industry. Whether you're a professional fire
fighter who wants to increase your knowledge, or are interested in exploring
the exciting world of fire fighting, the Fire Science Technology program
has much to offer.
Fire Science Technology offers an associate of applied science degree.
College of DuPage's Fire Science Technology program is widely recognized
as being among the top fire service-oriented programs in Illinois. Fire
Science Technology prepares the student for the application process with
the fire department, and for positions in industrial safety, fire prevention,
insurance investigation, fire investigation, hazardous materials and public
education.
Students who successfully complete the associate of applied science degree
program can continue on to a bachelor of science offered by Southern
Illinois University, Benedictine University
and Western Illinois University.
Most fire departments currently seek candidates who have been trained
as Emergency Medical Technicians and/or Paramedics. These courses are
offered through the Fire Science Technology program. For more information,
refer to the EMT/Paramedic
program guide.
All College of DuPage Fire Science Technology program classes meet or
exceed the requirements for certification with the Office of the State
Fire Marshal, Division of Personnel Standards and Education, and the Illinois
Department of Public Health. |
