CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The increasing importance of higher education for professionals in criminal justice is one of the most noteworthy trends in recent years in this challenging field. The associate in applied science degree offered by the Criminal Justice program prepares students for careers in state, county and local law enforcement, and entry-level corrections and private security positions.

Career opportunities in all areas of criminal justice are expected to increase greatly in the next decade. Society will need well-educated and well-prepared professionals to address future challenges asked of law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies. The College of DuPage Criminal Justice program prepares students to enter or advance in this important field.

Critical to career success in criminal justice are excellent communication skills and an understanding of human behavior and motivation. Students must understand criminal law and procedure and the role of the professional in applying law in the important daily decisions that are part of this field. This degree requires students to incorporate studies in written and oral communication, social and behavioral sciences, and specialized courses in constitutional law, criminal procedure and investigation, and other areas of criminal justice.
