Flat, paved, out and back.

Race Day Agenda

2 to 3:30 p.m. - Day-of registration tables are open
2 to 4:45 p.m. - Race Village and Kid Zone are open
3:45 p.m. - Race participants assemble at start line
3:50 p.m. - COD Spirit Team performs at start line
3:55 p.m. - National Anthem
4:00 p.m. - Race start
5:00 p.m. - 1-Mile Youth Dash (on College Rd., south of football stadium)
5:30 p.m. - iPad Door Prize drawing*and team competition winners announced

T-shirts:

ParticipantsEach participant will be given a free long-sleeved technical shirt. There is an option to purchase additional shirts for $12 during online registration. For your convenience, shirts will be included in the pre-race day packet pick-up. Please note that race-day registrants cannot be guaranteed a T-shirt.

Technical shirts are intended to fit close to the body for moisture management. If you prefer loose-fitting clothing or will be wearing another shirt underneath, consider ordering a larger size.

Race Packets:

Includes a T-shirt and assigned bib and chip.

You can pick up race packets on the following dates at the following locations:

Thursday, Oct. 17, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, Student Resource Center (SRC), Room 2000
NOTE: Temporary parking will be allowed near the PACE bus stop on the north side of the Student Resource Center. Please turn on your vehicle's flashers and do not block the bus stop.

Event Parking:

Ample free parking will be available in Fawell Lots A (recommended), C and D. There will be plenty of volunteers and clear signage to direct you to the football stadium, where pre-race activities will take place. 

Race Timing:

We are happy to say that the 2013 5K race will again utilize a Jaguar technology timing system, which is the most modern and accurate method available. You can expect:

  • Start/Finish chip timing (NEW!)
  • Disposable bibs and chips available at the time of pre-race day packet pick-up.
  • Immediate and real-time results posted on flat screen TVs, text messaged to runners (if the runner chooses), and posted on the Internet at www.j3timing.com
     

Aid Stations and Comfort Facilities:

There will be an aid station, water stops and restrooms along the course to ensure happy and safe participants.

Awards and Prizes:

A $200 Visa gift card will be awarded to the Top Overall male and female  and the "Middle of the Pack" runners. The top three male and female runners in each of the following age groups will receive a medal, with the top male and female in each category receiving a $20 gift card to Naperville Running Company. (The top overall male and female winners are removed from age categories.)

40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and up

Medals
Medals will be available on race day. Medals will also be available after the race at the College of DuPage Community Relations office (BIC 1645). Unfortunately, they will not be mailed to the recipients.

 

1-Mile Youth Dash:

Youth, 12 years and younger, are invited to register for the 1-Mile Dash taking place at 5 p.m. after the 5K.  $25 Visa gift cards will be awarded to the Top Overall male and female runners.  All participants will receive a medal. The course will be set up on College Road, beginning just south of the football stadium. Participants will head west for one-half mile and then head back east to the finish line.

CARA CertifiedThis race has applied for and received the Chicago Area Runners Association designation as a CARA CERTIFIED RACE. This race has agreed to adhere to and uphold CARA's Best Practices Guidelines. These Guidelines embody the highest standards for quality, safety and comfort for participants in a road race.

Walkers and strollers are welcome and will be asked to position themselves behind the runners at the starting line.

Bicycles, in-line skates, other wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs and strollers), and dogs are not allowed.

This race will proceed rain or shine.
